PhD/Research Masters Opportunities

Are you interested in joining us as a Research Masters’s or PhD candidate? The following table summarises the available research funding opportunities for postgraduate study in Irish Higher Education Institutions. Potential candidates should be willing to write a research proposal; the required support will be provided in developing the research proposal to apply for these schemes.

IRC Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme– opens every year around September

– opens to national, EU and Non-EU potential students
– please check your eligibility by using the ‘Eligibility Quiz Form’ on the online application form 
– a stipend of €22,000 per annum for up to 2 years (Res Master’s) & 4 years (PhD)
– a contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum
– research expenses of €3,250 per annum
UCD CSC Scholarship Scheme– opens every year around November
– deadline: usually the end of January
– first Outcome: March
– starting date: September
– opens to citizens of the People’s Republic of China

– full tuition fees by UCD for successful candidates
– bursary up to 4 years by CSC
– no research expenses

Postdoc Opportunities

On top of the funded Postdoctoral research opportunities, the Irish Research Council offers the following opportunity for carrying out 1-2 years of postdoctoral research in Ireland. Potential candidates should be willing to write a research proposal; the required support will be provided in developing the research proposal to apply for this prestigious fellowship.

– employer’s PRSI contribution
